Stoller Vineyards and Winery is a world-class winery making use of the latest in environmental technology, balanced by our sustainable farming practices. Our solar-generating, gravity-flow winery is the first in the USA to have attained a Gold level LEED certification for its design and construction. Stoller Vineyards is a 373-acre parcel located on the southern slopes of the Dundee Hills in Yamhill County, Oregon. A turkey farm from the 1940s through the 1980s, the first 10 acres of Chardonnay and 10 acres of Pinot Noir were planted in 1995.The vineyard now has 176 acres under vine, the majority of which is planted to Pinot Noir.
Our 2017 Reserve Pinot Noir is a blend of our olderPinot Noir vines, with Pommard being the domitclone. We fermented this wine with native yeast instainless steel tanks and our oak fermenter. It spent12-months in French oak barrels during which it sawfull malolactic conversion. After blending, we putthe wine back in stainless steel tanks for anothersix months to gain extended time on lees and marrybefore bottling. Our 2017 Reserve Pinot Noir is classic Oregon withbright acidity, lighter tannin structure, and freshfruit characteristics. This Pinot Noir opens witharomatics of ripe raspberry, red rose, and earth. Thepalate presents elegant tannins, carrying flavorsof bing cherry and pomegranate, with hints ofbramble. This wine can be enjoyed now; however, itwas constructed for longevity with proper cellaring.HARVEST OVERVIEWThe 2017 vintage is classically Oregon. Despite acold winter and cooler than normal spring, idealweather after flowering created a healthy fruit set, with as much as 20% more berries per cluster thanaverage. Summer was dry and hot, but vines sawlittle drought stress. By September, everything wason track for a traditional, “normal” Oregon harvestin the Willamette Valley, with Pinot Noir exhibitingoutstanding quality. Harvest produced a crop withintense flavor, and perfect sugar and acid levels.
