Cotarella Montiano Merlot Red Wine offers fascinating aromas of purple fruits, spices, green olives, sandalwood. Medium body, firm tannins and a linear finish. Subtle walnut, chocolate, blackberry, and a black olive character comes out at the end. Tight and polished. Montiano is deep ruby-red in color and exhibits a wide range of aromas, from red and black berries intertwined with mulling spice and hints of vanilla, to wet flint, cigar box and dark chocolate. On the palate the wine is supple, full-bodied and elegant, with a lingering finish. The estate suggests serving this wine at a temperature of 18° C (64° F) to fully appreciate its elegance in a glass. The 2019 vintage received 95 points from James Suckling in the September 2022 issue. Pair this Merlot red wine with tomato-based dishes, roasted chicken or turkey and caramelized roasted vegetables. This wine is grown in the Montalcino region of Italy. Only the best grape clusters are harvested by hand and taken cellar within hours of harvest where they are selected again before being macerated on the skins for 10 days with numerous manual punch-downs. Temperature controlled fermentation is conducted in trunco-conic stainless-steel tanks and ML performed in barrel. One 750mL wine bottle of Cotarella Montiano Merlot Red Wine, 15% alcohol by volume.
